Ways You Can Boost Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

by Pregnancy Resource Team on February 1, 2011

When you are trying to conceive a baby and things aren’t going so well, it can be pretty stressful, right? Well, the bad news is that feeling tension about the process actually makes it less likely to conceive. What to do? Knowing a few things you can actually do to increase your chances of having a baby will go a long way to calming you down. That’s what this article is about.

Before anything else, please follow and understand your fertility cycle. You really need to know when you are ovulating. You can do this by taking your temperature for example. Of course, when you are fertile, you need to make love with your partner. If you have a particularly irregular schedule I highly recommend that you consult your M.D. to see what can be done to get you back on track.

Knowing your body’s timing goes a long way toward reducing the amount of tension you feel. But you can also do other things to relax. This is important both for getting pregnant and for carrying the baby (and later, of course, for raising a child). Yoga, chi gong, massage and meditation are all ways you can chill out. Also you may need to reconsider the type of work you do if it is particularly stressful.

After you’ve gotten pretty good at controlling your stress level, the next step is to work on your eating habits. Certain foods can help promote fertility, but each person is unique. What may help one person can ruin the chances for another person, depending on allergies and how your body absorbs nutrients. Because of this, it’s best to talk with your doctor specifically about what you can do to help your diet.

Two more things that I recommend for my friends and clients are to start taking natural fertility supplements such as Peruvian Maca – this one is very powerful – and also completing a very good quality herbal detox like the Ultimate Cleanse. These things go a long way toward helping you get pregnant.

If you follow these tips, you should start to not only feel better, but also know that you you’ll greatly increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Why Can’t I Get Pregnant?

by Pregnancy Resource Team on July 29, 2010

One of the most common questions of women who have been trying to conceive for more than a couple of months is:  “Why Can’t I Get Pregnant?“  In this article you’ll learn the major obstacles toward getting pregnant and what to do about them.

Age

All women are born with over 1 million eggs stored in their ovaries.  At puberty an average girl has about 300,000 left.  During reproductive years about 300 of the best quality eggs will be ovulated.

Since the best eggs are used first, the likelihood of pregnancy decreases after the age of 35.   While many women do get pregnant in their late 30s and 40s, the chances are much smaller.   Those who do often follow a specific program of natural remedies to boost their fertility.

Female  Health Problems

Their are a number of conditions that may affect your ability to conceive.  The major ones include: fibriods in the uterus, endometriosis, and pelvic inflammatory disease.  All of these can restrict your fallopian tubes, which prevents eggs from traveling to the uterus.

Another relatively common condition is for a woman’s hormonal balance to be off.   An imbalance in hormones can prevent ovulation and can also keep the uterus from being prepared for ovulation.

If you suspect you may suffer from one of these conditions, your best off visiting a qualified  gynocologist for testing.

Lifestyle Issues

Several unhealthy lifestyle  factors have been shown to limit fertility.    Smoking and the use of recreational drugs are on top of the list.  If you’re trying to get pregnant and doing either of these things, you need to stop now.  Other factors that may reduce your ability to get pregnant are high stress, very strenuous activity and being over or under weight.

Nutrition

Having a nutritious diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables has been very helpful for many women who have had trouble conceiving.    Taking prenatal vitamins even before you get pregnant is also a very good idea.

Quality of Your Partner’s Sperm

In some cases, it is the man and not the woman who manifests a fertility problem.  Lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol use and high stress and reduce the quality of a man’s sperm.    Exposure to toxins including pesticides and heavy metals and diabetes also limits a man’s ability to conceive.
